The Thing About Spring Y’all…it’s newsy!

Hello, friends and fellow music-lovers! Just a quick hello and update from a chilly spring morning here in Sisters!

A few wonderful things to share…

I am SO EXCITED that I get to bring my music and poetry back to beautiful Lange Estate Winery & Vineyards in Dundee, OR this month! Lange is a jaw-droppingly gorgeous place AND the wine is exquisite AND the hospitality is incredible AND the founder Don Lange is a wonderful poet and singer-songwriter and fly-fisherman, need I say more?! 🙂 I am delighted to return for a Sunday afternoon of music and poetry among the vines. Come taste the most delicious rose to remind you that warmer days are coming! Here are details:

OMG y’all, what an amazing time we had with the She’s Speaking Live roadshow! Unending heaps of gratitude to the amazing artists who sang and played their hearts out. to the generous venues who hosted us, and to all the folks who showed support and came to celebrate with us! I’ll be updating the She’s Speaking website with pics and videos from our recent shows, and we are dreaming and scheming on more road shows in celebration of women in song! In the meantime, scroll down for a tiny taste of the fun…

What a wonderful time we had with our Songwriting In Community workshops! It is profound to see the vulnerability, generosity, sharing, and creative exploration that takes place with strangers who quickly become friends. Music is magic like that! Let’s keep the magic going, y’all. I will be hosting an in-person song circle here is Sisters on Mon, April 24 and an in-person Feedback Song Salon on Mon, May 8 with the hopes in making these regular monthly offerings. Thank you to Sisters Folk Festival for the gathering space!

Song circle details…Song circles are simply for sharing songs with and listening to each other. Originals and covers are welcome…whatever you feel like sharing! The circle will go approximately two hours. Open to all levels of songwriting experience. There is no cost to attend, and free-will donations are joyfully accepted (Venmo @bethwoodmusic or Paypal). At Sisters Artworks JAM Studio (upstairs). 6:30-8:30 pm. RSVP to bethwoodmusic@hotmail.com is appreciated but not required.

Feedback Song Salons details… Feedback Song Salons are small gatherings where songwriters can share new work and receive thoughtful feedback from fellow songwriters and from me. We will cap the number at 6 so that each songwriter will have ample time to play and receive feedback. Learning in community is so powerful, and I’m grateful for this opportunity to explore this with you. All levels of songwriting and performance experience are welcome. This will be a space of non-judgment for songwriters to support their fellow songwriters. If you’d like feedback on a song you’re working on, or on a performance of a song, this is for you! At Sisters Artworks JAM Studio (upstairs), 204 W Adams Ave, Sisters, OR.

Cost will be sliding scale of $10-$25…pay what you can – no judgment! (Venmo: @bethwoodmusic or Paypal). Please email me at bethwoodmusic@hotmail.com to reserve your spot.

Our recording session for the Oregon Symphony Lullaby Project is next week in Portland and I can’t WAIT!! It was so fun working with Eva to write our song called “Your Blue, Blue Eyes” for her son, and I can’t wait to hear Naomi Laviolette‘s arrangement for strings, flute, piano and guitar! I can’t believe I get to do this work of listening and collaborating and using my intuition to help a song come into being. It is amazing and soul-nourishing to get to work in spaces where listening and collaboration and intuition are valued. There will be a public concert with all of our lullabies in May so stay tuned for details on that!

I’m also celebrating my 3 year anniversary with my supporters on Patreon. I CAN’T BELIEVE it has been 3 years! This has changed the way I work in the world and has allowed me to grow and continue my creative practice while also putting down roots — something I have dreamed of for a long time. Flying and driving around the country non-stop playing my music was an AMAZING life I loved and was my dream, but it was also not sustainable. Now I am so grateful that I get to live in one place, share my songs and poems in setting where songs and poems are held sacred, build community through music, and make things like songs and poems, albums and books to share. A heartfelt thank you to my patrons for helping my dreams come true! As a thank-you gift to patrons, I’ll be sharing an audio-book version of my latest book Believe The BirdWant to join us?

There is much fun brewing and more coming soon! Thank you for reading, for cheering me on, and for being a part of my creative life! I am ever grateful, ever your fan,

B
