Greetings, friends and fellow music lovers! Spring has sprung and the northwest is expoding with green and flowers. I hope it is beautiful where you are!

I love this time of promise and new beginnings. As always I hope you’ll scroll down for newsy news, gratitude, random photos and musings, and show details. There is lots of fun stuff happening this month so here’s what’s coming up:

Fri, May 12 – Ocean View House Concert – Ocean View, HI

Thu, May 18 – Live from Blue Rock – Wimberley, TX

Sat, May 20 – Wildflower Festival – Richardson, TX

1. GRATITUDE. Oh man, there are so many wonderful folks to thank for the month of April! Special thanks to David Stoddard, Matt and all at Anchor Coffeehouse, Karen Impola and KUNI/Iowa Public Radio, Nancy Emrich and all in Mt Vernon, Palisades Cafe, Rose and Gary and all in Roca, Laurie McClain, Hope Dunbar and all at The Old Glory Theater, Bonnie at La Ruche B&B in Seward, NE (stay there if you can!!), Mike and all at the Green Guitar Folk House, UU Church in Lexana, Mare Wakefield and Nomad, Bobby Rymer, Heather Morgan, Stephen Mougin, Chuck Cannon, Linda and all at Chemeketa Community College, Jazz Alley, Lizz Wright and her band, Bill & Micki Lippe, Jeff Heiman and Jeff Ross, PJ and Brad Tisdel…woop!

May is so full of awesomeness I can barely stand it. I am so excited to cross this one off of my bucket list – finally I am going to play a concert in Hawaii, the only state I haven’t played in! So if you find yourself on the Big Island on May 12, come and join us! 🙂 And I am over the moon about returning to Blue Rock Artist Ranch and Studio in the Texas hill country for a concert with the great Ara Lee and Dirje Childs! Y’all know I recorded my CD “The Weather Inside” there so I have a very large place in my heart for Billy and Dodee Crockett and everyone at Blue Rock! And the cool thing is that if you aren’t able to be there in person on May 18, you can watch online from anywhere on Concert Window!! And finally I am so thrilled to be returning to the wonderful Wildflower Festival in Richarson, TX on May 20 with the great Ara Lee! The city of Richardson and the folks at Wildflower take such good care of us songwriters — they even let us play indoors in the air conditioned sanctuary of the Eismann Performing Arts Center while everyone else sweats outside!

My 20/20 project is in full swing and I have released 5 songs so far. It’s not too late to get in on the fun!! If you want have a window in to my creative endeavors in my 20th year as a full-time musician, I hope you’ll sign up! I’ll get you caught up and continue sending you new works throughout the year! Rumor has it I might even send a new poem this month as a nod back to National Poetry Month, which was April but I hardly noticed because every month is poetry month to me 🙂

Y’all remember the song “Nasty Woman” that Ara Lee and Jen Hajj and I wrote? Well, that song is blazing a trail and coming to life in a huge way!! Ara gathered a bunch of Portland’s finest musicians and recorded it a few weeks ago, and now it is the most bad-ass funky anthem of woman power ever! I was on the road for the session so I got to go in and put my back-up vocals on it last week and we had a BLAST! A video is in the works and I can’t wait for you to hear this thing once it’s finished!

I am so excited to share with you a new development – I have started working with the management team 2 Jeffs on Music (Jeff Heimann and Jeff Ross) out of Seattle! We met at last year’s FAR-West conference and have been in talks ever since. I am looking forward to their guidance and help going forward in finding new opportunities for me and my music! Woop!

The folks at my favorite concert series HOME BY DARK have started a podcast called “A Song Can Change Your Life”!! Isn’t that the truth?! We had so much fun on my last visit to Roswell, GA sitting down and talking about my song “Wide Mouth Jar”. You can listen to the podcast here, and check out our version of the song live at HOME BY DARK!

David Stoddard and I have so much fun singing together!

What a blast we had with the great Hope Dunbar in Seward, NE! Her songs will melt your heart.

We got to be on the coolest radio show called Friday Live, thank goodness there was coffee cuz it was early, y’all!

If you are driving along and you see a sign for Iowa’s largest frying pan, you have to stop, right?

We might have done a little beer research at Granite City Brewery in Cedar Rapids, IA.

Ohymygosh, hey look it’s Chris Rosser!! He’s playing in Lizz Wright’s band and they are soooooo amazing.

4. THE FUTURE…I am looking forward to a little more time at home in the coming months! I’ve got some really fun Portland shows coming up, and I’m super excited for our family fishing trip at the end of June, where I always recharge and gain inspiration. I can’t wait to see what this summer will bring! As always, I welcome your feedback and I am ever grateful for your support and presence! With much gratitude from your fan,

Beth Wood
