Summer Newsy News!

Good morning, friends and fellow music lovers!

Just a quick note to share some fun things coming up…summer is rolling in and the busy season is gearing up! I can’t wait for all the magic, and hope to see you out there!

I’m not playing many shows these days, and that feels just right. I absolutely love having roots, staying put (for the most part!) and tending to the good things happening at home. It makes me treasure it even more every time I get to share music and connect with you!

Here’s what’s coming up below, and you can always go to my website event page for details about fun events coming up.

Sat, July 15 – Summer Fishtrap Gathering of Writers – Wallawa Lake, OR. The Summer Fishtrap Gathering of Writers is held annually at Wallowa Lake at the edge of the Eagle Cap Wilderness Area. Each year, authors and instructors come to Wallowa County from around the country to provide intensive instruction and inspiration to a small group of writers. The evening programs are open to the public and free of charge (with the exception of Friday’s keynote by Jamie Ford.) Saturday evening’s program will include a reading from Luis Alberto Urrea, and music with Kate Power & Steve Einhorn and BW! 7:30 pm.

Sun, July 23 – Tom & Norene’s House Concert – Sisters, OR w/Dennis McGregor. A beautiful outdoor house concert hosted by incredibly gracious hosts Tom and Norene Gonsiewski! We played in their gorgeous paradise/yard last summer and had the best time. We are so lucky to have generous music lovers like Tom & Norene in our community! Can’t wait to return to share an evening of music and laughter with you in this beautiful setting!

Tom and Norene say…As always, all concerts are held in our yard, 287 W Jefferson Ave., Sisters. The concerts are from 6-8 and the requested donation is $20. 100% of the proceeds go to the musicians. OTHER NEWS…

I’m thrilled beyond measure to be attending Summer Fishtrap Gathering of Writers to study poetry with our current Oregon poet laureate Anis Mojgani! I’m so excited to learn and make connections and open myself even more to the transformative power of poetry. I am learning the importance of following my curiosity, and this is where it is leading me next!

It was such a special treat to be a guest on Anne Sibley‘s Songwriting Podcast last month! We had a wonderful conversation about creativity and songs and rivers and the healing power of songwriting. Anne is a warm and encouraging, insightful and intuitive writer and teacher, and a soul sister in song for sure! You can listen to the podcast here.

I was so delighted to get to do a songwriting residency at Black Butte School this spring! Special thanks to Jennie Sharp and the teachers at BBS for helping me write songs with the kiddos! What fun we had writing and singing about the Metolius River and sharing our songs for their families last week!

I’m always sharing new and unreleased songs and poems and musings over on my Patreon where I am creating music, poetry, community and delight in small things…I hope you’ll come check it out and join us! It is a wonderful way to support my art, and I am so grateful for my dear patrons!

And finally, Hannah is still very cute, and she will turn 6 years old next week! I can’t believe it’s been almost two years since that little pumpkin marched into my life and stole my heart. She has come such a long way, and we are learning so much about each other. Her favorite hobbies are hunting bunnies, shredding cardboard, eating, and napping. This girl knows how to live her best life!

Thank you, Heaven McArthur for the Hannah photo and the photos with D above. And thank you, Norm Eder for the black and white photo above.

And thank YOU for reading and for cheering me on. I hope to connect with you soon! May we all find a little time for nourishing our spirits and for PLAY in these beautiful summer days!

With gratitude from your fan,

Beth Wood
