1. GRATITUDE. Wow, where to begin. August was full of blessings, great shows, and much needed time with friends. Much gratitude to all these fine folks for making it wonderful. Chris & Nadia, the Meadows family and friends, Renee, T & Chris & G, Mendhi & Shawn & Jenna and all at the Evergreen Nature Center benefit, all at Columbine Spiritual Center in Boulder, Steve S and all the staff and instructors at Song Schook, Sarah Sample, Mai Bloomfield and my song school family, Tom Faulkner and the Pedersen family, Dave & Molly Stoddard, Fergus Falls Center for the Arts, The Dalton Opera House, Cindy & Carol at the Nave, Tom and everyone at the Whitewall Sessions, Union Pizza & Brewing, Barb & Jan and all at Lelladgio, Kent & Heidi at Green Galaxy Garage, Ron and Margaret and all at the UU of La Crosse, and Dave and Matthew and all the wonderful folks at the Great River Folk Festival!

2. THE NEWS. The poetry book is here! We did a very short run so that we could get some eyes on it for proofreading purposes. Someone recently asked me, “how do you proofread poetry?”. An excellent question indeed! Mainly we’re looking for blatant typos, errors in alignment and layout, etc. Once that is done we will be ready to go to press for real!

Dave Stoddard and I had such an amazing tour…we’re hoping to do that again very soon! Thanks to all the kind folks in MN, WI & SD who cheered us on. We celebrated the grand finale of our tour at The Great River Folk Festival in La Crosse, WI, a magical, sweet, warm gathering of music loving folks along the riverside. We heard music that blew our minds and made new friends…what a blast!!

Well it’s almost time for the Sisters Folk Festival and Song Academy! It’s my favorite week of the year and I can’t wait for another amazing experience. I’m super excited that my friend and mentor Chris Rosser will be coming to the festival and academy to share his music and wisdom. If you haven’t seen Chris before, prepare to be blown away and deeply touched!

This fall will be super busy with shows and adventures, and I am looking forward to collaborating again with my friend the insanely talented Tyler Fortier on a new project of new songs. Stay tuned on that!

Private concerts, open mics and mentor sessions are all part of the experience. The musical alchemy of the festival artists from “Song Camp” helps inspire collaborations and exceptional performances at the festival each year. Campers participate in workshops, communal meals and activities at the performing arts camp “Caldera”, a stunning location on the edge of Blue Lake, high in the Cascade Mountains. With an extraordinary caterer, a beautiful and powerful location, and a unique, intimate experience, the event continues to be highly anticipated and sells out each year. BW’s favorite week of the year. 🙂
