1. GRATITUDE…I am so unbelievable grateful for my life in music and for all who support me and cheer me on! September was off-the-charts awesome, and I have many to thank. Special thanks to Dan & Krista and all at the Four Corners Folk Festival; to Lisa & Loren; to Brad and the crew at Sisters Folk Festival and Americana Song Academy – it was the best year yet!; to the most amazing team of staff at song camp, and a very inspiring and generous group of instructors; to the best band in the universe (Merlin, Milo, Tyler, Peter, and Flood) for rocking Sisters with me; to all the artists who generously gave of their time and their hearts at the Sisters Folk Fest Sunday Community Celebration; to Route 5 NW Wine Bar; to Wayne and all at the Clark County Folk Festival; to Robert and the Local Roots Radio Show and all who performed that magical night at the Alberta Street Pub; to Steve & Jean at Quantam Arts and to Sally at the Atrium; to Frank & Sunnie and everyone at the Bull Moose; to Wayne & Debbie and crew at the Lyons Fork; to the Great Laura and Michael Grace, and to Ocea and family. I couldn’t have done it without you!

2. THE NEWS… I’m excited to announce my radio campaign with my buddy Erik Balkey of Hudson Harding Music for the new CD “Sometimes Love”! Erik has built a great reputation as a radio promoter (as well as a songwriter!) and has fostered good relationships with the DJs at folk radio. Erik mailed out about 200 CDs to radio stations all over the country, mostly NPR and non-commercial. Folk DJs are a dedicated bunch of folks who are usually volunteers and do what they do for the love of the music. Here’s hoping my new music lands softly and receives much support! I’m working on getting a list of those stations if you’d like to call and request a song! 🙂

Another exciting piece of news is that I have been selected as an official showcase artist for the FAR-West (Folk Alliance Region West) Music Conferenece in at the Marriott City Center in Oakland, CA in a couple weeks! FAR-West is a gathering of folks involved with “folk” music in the western part of the country including venues, DJs, festival presenters, artists, managers, and more. The other good news is that the evening showcase performances are open to the public!! I will be playing on Friday, Oct 17 at 9:30 pm along with a great group of artists including….  Admission is $15 per person

October is jam packed with awesome and starts off with a trip to the southeast, my beloved ol stompin grounds. Can’t wait to return to western North Carolina where I’ll be playing at the Purple Onion in Saluda and the UU of Transylvania County in Brevard. I’m excited for three wonderful house concerts  (in Clinton, TN and Central, SC and Tacoma Park, MD) and all are open to folks from my mailing list. And then I get to two new places to me near Raleigh – both concerts are hosted by good friends in fabulous venues – the Sunset Lake Clubhouse in Holly Springs and 54 West in Graham. Woop!! Then I’ll race back to the west coast for the FAR-West conference and a couple more shows – opening for the great Peter Mulvey in Corvalis at the Majestic Theatre and playing a set at the Mt Pisgah Arboretum Mushroom Festival in Eugene!!

I’m also thrilled to announce that we have set the date for another Caldera Songwriters Concert to benefit the Egan Warming Center in Eugene!! The show will be December 20 at Tsunami Books, a wonderful community gathering place. So if you’re anywhere near Eugene, I hope you’ll please save the date and help us raise money and gather warm things for the Egan Warming Center!

As always in my life as a touring artist, things slow down quite a bit in December and January. I’d love to stick around the northwest for some rest and reflection. If anyone in WA, OR, or northern CA has interest in hosting a concert during this time, holler at me at bethwoodmusic@hotmail.com!
