November, you thrill me!

November, you thrill me…

Monday Nov 4, 2013

icon the trees take off their clothes.
Ahhh…here come the rains.  The grey is coming…the time to snuggle up with a hot cup of coffee, stare out the window, and go inward.  I treasure this time as much as I treasure summer.  It’s no surprise that October was a blur, but it was a WONDERFUL blur.  Here’s what’s happening now…

1. Gratitude and the News

2. November Shows in TX!!

3. The Future

1.  GRATITUDE & THE NEWS. What a fabulous journey my October tour was! I have so many fine folks to thank for helping me along the way and making it possible. Special thanks to: Renee, Elizabeth M, Bill & Kitty & Cafe Carpe, Ron & Margaret & all at UU of La Crosse, the Stoddard family, the Wicklunds and friends, the Millers, Lori & Brian & Ron & all at the Yard Arm, Lee & Cindy & friends, Bill and all at Trinity House Theatre, the Grabills & all at Possom Hollow, Don & Cheryl & friends, Bob & Ashleigh & the Dataw island community, Cat, Herb & Margarita & all the Plantation Club, Felty family, Jackson & all at 185 King St, Ray & all at Mudville Music Room, James Casto & Sabrina & Nicole Witt & all at the Bluebird, Bobby R & Heather Morgan.  Whew!!  Every single one of you contributed to this trip’s awesomeness and I’m so grateful!

I am thrilled to be returning to Texas for a tour this month!!  I’m visiting some old favorites and some new ones as well, heading to La Grange, San Angelo, Lubbock, Conroe, Austin, Mansfield and Coppell.  Rumor has it that I will have an entourage for this tour!! I’m excited that my folks will be with me on most of my TX tour, and my friend Ocea will join me for a few nights.  It is always a treat to share the road and shenanigans and the driving!  🙂  See below for details.

I’m very excited to be a part of a stellar project called “A Very Blue Rock Christmas”!  It is a sampling from all of the wonderful Christmas concerts at Blue Rock, the magical place where I recorded “The Weather Inside” and was lucky enough to be invited to be a part of two Christmas shows.  This is a gorgeous collection of songs full of harmonies and magical moments. Also featured are David Wilcox, Ruthie Foster, Sara Hickman, Terri Hendrix, Pierce Pettis, Rj Cowdery,Nathan Brown, Grace Pettis, Tom Prasada-Rao, Bob Bennett, and Billy Crockett. WOOHOO!!!  You can listen and purchase HERE, and I will also have some with me on my TX tour.  Thank you to Billy & Dodee & Blue Rock for this!

Some exciting news about my show at The Bugle Boy on Fri, Nov 15: you can watch it online!!  So if you don’t live anywhere near La Grange, TX and you only know it from the ZZ Topp song, but you still want to see the show and learn why The Bugle Boy is one of my favorite venues EVER, you’re in luck!!  Concert Window allows you to enjoy live streaming video with high-fidelity sound and chat with other viewers in real time. It’s so cool!  You can learn more here!  I sincerely hope you’ll join us!

New project update: Tyler and I have completed ten songs and we’re working on two more!  I just sent out Song #7 for the Song Of The Month Club…a song I wrote with the great Phil Madeira called “To Get To Zero”.  I can’t believe we’re on #7 already!  Thank you to my song clubbers and song sponsors, and a very heartfelt thank you to Dan & Cynthia for their generous support.  You can learn more about the Song of the Month Club here!

And finally, in other random news, I just heard that Oregon Beer Growler Magazine would like to feature my recipe for Sleigh Balls recipe in their next issue!!  Sleigh Balls are a play on my grandmother’s recipe for Bourbon Balls…a delicious holiday no-bake cookie usually made with bourbon but I used a reduction of Sleigher (Ninkasi’s popular winter seasonal beer) instead!!  I’ll be sure to share the link to it next month so we can all make some.  🙂

Marty captured this beautiful Eugene morning…

I got to play in this charming little house on Dataw Island, SC…originally built as a cannery, it now serves as the community lending library and concert space!

Beautiful sunset from the window at Possum Hollow…

I love Wisconsin…they even have cheeese from outer space!

view from the stage at the Trinity House Theatre!

This was my office assistant for a couple weeks while his people were on their honeymoon…he went home Sunday… it’s very quiet around here without Hank!  His special skills include napping, stretching, and squirrel patrol.

3.  THE FUTURE… Well, December will bring lots of home time for me.  I have many projects I’d like to work on, including my poetry book, my website, and repainting a bathroom — we’ll see how far I get!  Tyler and Peter and I will also be finishing up our work tracking and mixing songs for the new album. YAY!  And I’m very excited that my song circle friends and I will be hosting another community concert/benefit for the Egan Warming Center on Dec 20 at Tsunami Books… good times!  Renee and I are working on the 2014 calendar, so please reach out to one of us if you have an idea for a concert (mtntimerenee@msn.com or bethwoodmusic@hotmail.com).

And please know how thankful I am for YOU.  With much gratitude from your fan,
