icon Thanks for the flowers!
Greetings, friends and fellow music-lovers — and hello from beautiful central Oregon! I am so grateful for these gorgeous spring days. Each drop of sunshine and each flower feels like a little love note, and I love the spirit-lift I get from walking outside. I hope you are in good spirits and staying healthy.

I wanted to check in and send you a little love blast. My monthly newsy newsletter is a ritual I enjoy…even though the newsy news looks different these days. Here are couple of fun events coming up!

On Sunday, May 3rd and Monday, May 4th, our friends at Artichoke Music are going to broadcast a show I did there with my good friend the great Tom Faulkner on their Facebook page!! Tom is one of my favorite singer-songwriters in the history of ever, and I have so much fun sharing the stage with him. We have played lots in Texas, and it was a dream of mine for my friends in Oregon to hear Tom. So a couple years ago he came up for a few NW shows, and this Artichoke show was just the warm Oregon welcome I had hoped for for my friend Tom! We can’t wait to re-live this wonderful evening with you on FB live! We’ll be there commenting and chatting and making fun of each other both nights. 🙂 7:30 pm Pacific time on Sun and Mon. Thank you to Artichoke Music for this special treat! So here’s the scoop… and a fun promo video we made.

And on Thursday, May 21 at 5 pm Pacific time I will play a live streaming concert in celebration of my almost-birthday! You can attend the concert on my Facebook music page, and then we will have a special Zoom backstage after party with Patreon folks. I am still learning about Zoom and FB Live and streams and upload speeds and delays and microphones, oh my! But I will do my best to make it a fun event and I hope you’ll join me. It lifts my spirits every time I sing and especially when I sing for you! Please feel free to email me with your song requests at bethwoodmusic@hotmail.com!

Y’all, I am so excited about my growing Patreon community! Patreon is a new subscription platform that allows you to directly support your favorite artists while connecting with them and gaining access to exclusive content. I share a new song and a new poem each month to my Pateron subscribers, and we had our first Zoom gathering for a few tunes and some much needed connection last week. It was so fun! It has been significant for me in a couple of ways. Firstly, it is a way to continue making a living. And secondly, it has shifted my daily mindset. Now when I get up in the morning, instead of thinking, “what should I do today?” my first thought is, “what can I make today?” It’s a significant shift, and I love how it feels to be creating and sharing! Special thanks to the 57 brave souls who have join me in this adventure. I hope you’ll consider joining us! I made a little video about it here…

what is patreon?

Oh my GOSH y’all, we had so much fun with the inaugural run of the Sisters Folk Festival bandwagon this week! We borrowed a flatbed trailer and set up a PA and drove around our town while I played some tunes…free delivery of home grown music…all while keeping safe and social distancing! It was so wonderful to see all the smiles and waves and majestic mountains in the background and the bicycle parade that rode along behind us! It lifted my spirits so high to spread some joy through music, and I’m still fying high! The Bandwagon has no schedule or agenda, other than celebrating a beautiful afternoon, in our beautiful community, with some beautiful music…to help cure the Quarantine Blues! So be on the lookout for some more free song delivery soon! Special thanks to Brad for driving and to Dave and Dennis support and to Jeff and Chris at Ponderosa Forge & Ironworks Inc. for letting us use their trailer and to Rick Gerraths for the sweet generator to power the amp!

And I had a blast singing and talking with my friend Bob Hemenger’s Pagosa Springs high school class via Google Hangouts!

Oh this rainbow girl… 🙂 Some folks said it looks like she’s levitating! Can you see it? Angel-dog.

Here’s a video I recorded in front of my new place in Sisters.. I was thinking about how this song used to mean one thing, and now it means something different. Funny how songs grow and change that way…

go now

And finally, here’s a little poem inspired by these beautiful flowers…

These little guys are everywhere,

growing out of sand, gravel,

barely as big as my thumb.

There is wisdom here if I quiet

my thinkingmind so loud and

insistent at times, like thunder.

Even when I can’t find my purpose,

this is always true: grow no matter

where planted, reach toward the

light, let weather pass, shine.

Please know that you are on my mind and in my walking prayers. As always, I love hearing from you, so holler at me if you feel moved to do so. Either way, I’m so grateful for you!

With much love and gratitude from your fan,

Beth Wood
