Newsy News for May and beyond…
Greetings, friends and fellow music lovers!
FINALLY, spring is emerging, and Hannah is fulfilling her dream of full-time bunny patrol ha! π There is much to be grateful for, much to reflect on. Here’s a little update from my world…
GRATITUDE…Big-hearted thanks to all at Lange Estate Winery for hosting me again! Days like this I have to pinch myself and wonder how I got to be so lucky to be invited to share original music and poetry in a gorgeous, warm setting like this surrounded by generous folks and delicious wine?!? Thank you Don & Wendy, Adriane, Ronnie, and all the gracious staff and listeners!
NEWS…It’s impossible to put into words how much gratitude and joy I feel for the She’s Speaking family of amazing artists, all of the venues that hosted us in March, and all of the wonderful folks who came out to cheer us on and celebrate women’s voices with us. This collaboration is a labor of love, a dream come true, and a necessary convergence. We remain committed to creating forums for women’s voices and stories to be lifted up and celebrated! To that end, we are working on a 2024 She’s Speaking Live roadshow that will include even more places than before including Corvallis, Hillsboro, Bend, Longview, WA and more! STAY TUNED!!
I’m super excited for our upcoming Oregon Symphony Lullaby Project concert in Portland on Tuesday, May 16! We had a wonderful recording session with the Oregon Symphony players last month. It is an uplifting, emotional and tender thing to help someone write a song for their children, and then to hear the arrangement of the song come to life with symphony players! This year I co-wrote a song with Eva called “Your Blue, Blue Eyes” about her son Jayce. I can’t wait for you to hear it. This is a free concert at The Alberta Rose Theatre, starting at 6:30 pm. (click here to reserve your seats!)
Here’s a little video from our recording session at Hallowed Halls in Portland that captures the work of Lullaby Project so beautifully!

April was poetry month, and I was honored to be included in a beautiful article called “How Poets Pen the Grief Experience“. Evermore is a national, nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of bereaved children and families. For National Poetry Month, editor and poet Jena Kirkpatrick shone a light on poetry and she invited me to share. I am deeply honored to be included in this beautiful piece alongside Nathan Brown, Naomi Shihab Nye, Regie Gibson, Rosemerry Wahtola Trommer, and Brady Peterson. Poetry forever!
And I’m continuing to have fun sharing new things on Patreon! Come on over and see what musical and poetic mischief we are up to!

My birthday is coming up and it’s got me reflecting on how grateful I am for this life centered around music, poetry and art. When I started out twenty-five years ago, I wanted to take on the world! And now I just want to wrap my arms around it. I want to find ways to create beauty, share joy and sorrow, remember our interconnectedness, make things together. Thank you for continuing to encourage and support me as my mission grows and changes. Thank you for cheering me on!
Yours in gratitude and in song,
Beth Wood
