Rawkin’ out at KPOV in Bend!

Greetings, friends and fellow music-lovers, and a very warm welcome to you new mailing list peeps! It’s been a crazy winter, but thank goodness spring is on the way. What a wonderful time I had last month visiting snowy Bend, Tahoe, Redding, and then Kansas, Texas & Oklahoma! Here’s what’s happening now…

1. Call to Action

2. Gratitude and The News

3. Shows coming up in OR, FL & LA.

4. The Future

1. CALL TO ACTION. I will be in the great state of Texas in May, and I have a couple dates open. I have lots going in the DFW area…woohoo! In there anyone in other parts of the great state interested in hosting a house concert? Your friends will have fun and my feet will dance! Looking at May 9 or 11. Email me at bethwoodmusic [AT] hotmail.com for info!

Secondly, Northwest friends, my buddy and Oklahoma Poet Laureate Nathan Brown will be coming back this way in late May/early June. We are planning a few shows together. Is there anyone in Portland who might host or know a place where we could do our “Words and Music” show?

2. GRATITUDE & THE NEWS

GRATITUDE…What a wonderful time we had in February! Marty got to join me on some of my travels and we had a blast. Special thanks to KPOV, JoAn, Glenn & Cynthia, Ron & Tina, the Darkes, Alex & Janice & the Vintage, Janelle & Bridgehouse, all the organizers and volunteers of Folk Alliance, my girls Kim Richardson, Louise Mosrie & RJ Cowdery, Ann & Bop, Nathan, Frank & Suzy, Terry & Susan and Redbud Farm & Vineyard, Barney & Linda, and Jonathan and MaryLynn!!

THE NEWS… It’s happening! Mastering date for the new CD will be set this week! The great Jess Terry has begun working on artwork. I’ve decided on a title, “Sometimes Love”. Omygawsh, this CD is finally going to happen! Cannot WAIT to share it with you…

I had a fantastic time at the Folk Alliance International Conference in Kansas City. What a blessing to reconnect with old friends and meet some new ones.! I heard wonderful performances by Chris Kokesh with Leela Grace and Kathryn Claire, Moors & McCumber with Ellis, Bill Isles, Bill Nash, RJ Cowdery, Kevin Faherty, Lucy Billings, Jeff Black, Patrice Pike, Kim Richie, Louise Mosrie, Kim Richardson, Jenna Lindbo, Megan Burtt, Bronwynne Brent, David Berkeley, and so many more I can’t remember them all! Renee got to attend this year as well, so it was great to be part of the Mountain Time Booking team, yay! We had a wonderful keynote by Graham Nash, who brought me to tears twice…once when he talked about his mother and once when he talked about Buddy Holly. And we had a special presentation by Al Gore who managed to scare the crap out of me and inspire me at the same time. We connected with many venues and festivals and hope to expand on those connections in the months to come!

In other news, my friend Della Perry (www.ramblebramble.com) is making improvements on my website as we speak! It’s been a while since the last overhaul, so it’s time to update and get with the program. I’m excited to learn some new features and look forward to sharing it with you when we get it ready!

Last week, my Dad and I worked on gathering together my poems for a book. We had no idea what we were doing, which turned to be really fun. We divided them into possible sections and edited a bit. Next step will be to start thinking about a title and some art work. SO exciting! I have my friends Nathan Brown and the late Jim Chastain to thank for inspiring and nudging me in this direction! I hope I can make them proud.

Renee and I are working on fabulous April/May dates for TX. Nathan Brown and I will be doing “Words and Music” shows in OR and maybe WA in June! And my tour with Davd Stoddard in July is shaping up to kick some serious booty. Woohoo!! But first, March is going to rock. See details below…

And finally, I am so proud to share the news about my husband Marty’s new business venture: E3 Craft Strategies. I SOOO admire Marty’s resiliance, energy, and experience, and I know this new chapter will mean great things for us! It has already meant that we have more time together, a welcome change indeed. Go baby, GO!

Um, this was our drive over the mountain from Eugene to Bend. Thank goodness Marty was driving!

This is where the magic happens at KPOV community radio in Bend! We had a great time, I got to play a few songs and visit with Rick about some of my favorite songs evah.

I got to play an impromptu set at Crux Brewery in Bend! It was 9 degrees outside so I brought my guitar in while we had a beer…which led to this!

It was so wonderfully warm at the House Concert in the Glen at Newport Hills in Bend on a snowy night…this is Los Ratones who opened the show, also known as Dennis and Natalie

Hands down cutest audience ever!!

That’s weird, I don’t feel that tiny?? From Valentine’s Day show at The Vintage Wine Bar in Redding…

We photo-bombed ourselves at Folk Alliance!! With sistas in song Melissa Greener, RJ Cowdery, and Louise Mosrie…

My favorite moments at Folk Alliance are sharing music with friends. With the great RJ Cowdery (a.k.a. Cobra)…

Singing “This Little Light of Mine” at the children’s hospital in Kansas City!

Oh man, did we have a good time at Redbud Farm & Vineyard?!? With Nathan Brown on squeezebox and Frank Lawrence on percussion! P.S. their tornado shelter is also their wine storage room. Well played, Redbud.

Um, what?!?!
