1. GRATITUDE. Special thanks to these wonderful folks who helped make May so magical…Ann & Bob, Terri & Sarah, and all of the amazing team and supporters of Brazos Valley House Concerts, Tom & Cindy Faulkner, Danny Green and all at Patrick’s Place, Freddy & Francine and Axe & Fiddle, Ben Debaldo and the amazing musicians and supporters at Rogue Valley Roots Festival, Ginger & Larry, Bill & Sue & Scott and all a Peninsula Arts Center, Ocea and family, and to everyone who made my birthday so special.

2. CALL TO ACTION. I’ve got a couple of dates to fill so thought I’d shout it out and see if anyone has ideas or interest in hosting a house concert! Firstly, I’m looking for a southern California show on Sunday, July 19. Anyone have ideas? And secondly, my friend David Stoddard will be doing an August tour in WI and MN. We’re looking for a house concert or other super cool event on fri, aug 28. It needs to be close driving distance to La Crosse, WI, where we are playing at the Great River Folk Festival on 8/29 and 30!

3. THE NEWS.

The big news of my summer is teaching opportunities. I am THRILLED to be leading workshops at the Wood and Stone Retreat coming up next week in MD and also at Joe Craven’s Rivertunes music camp in CA in July. There are a few slots left at the Wood and Stone retreat so come on and join us if you can! I’m also honored to be asked to lead another private vocal workshop here in Eugene this month. It is a fun 45 minute long exploration of breathing for singing and ways to access natural and easy singing! If anyone has interest in this workshop, holler at me at bethwoodmusic@hotmail.com!

In other news, I’ve got a really sweet run of northeast shows coming up.. a wonderful fundraiser concert for the University Club in Albany, a private house concert in West Chester, PA, and the amazing Artsville NY house concert series in Brooklyn. If you have peeps in Albany or New York City, please feel free to pass along the info!!

And I’m excited to be continuing my weird hobby of singing our National Anthem at opening night of our Eugene Emeralds baseball team and also on the Sat, June 23! I had a chance to sing it for our soccer team, Lane United’s opening game and it was a blast.

I was so fortunate to be playing at the Peninsula Arts Center in Long Beach, WA at the same time that the great Scott Docherty was filming for their promotional video. Scott set up several cameras and we even toyed with the idea of having a doggie cam but decided it might be too distracting! 🙂 Here is the end result after Scott’s masterful editing. It’s a realitively new song called “Gone Too Soon”.  and another one of “Whiskey”! Thank you, Scott!

Well my poetry book is in motion! I have decided on a title: “Kazoo Symphonies”, and I saw some cover ideas from wonderful graphic artist Chris Everett. Now it is in the fine-tuning stages…can’t believe it’s really happening! Thank you to all of you who have encouraged me to share my poetry…be careful what you wish for! 🙂

And finally I turn my thoughts to the folks in Texas who are reeling from this epic weather and flooding. I turn my prayers to those devastated by this and to friends who are coming together to help their community. I turn my heart toward Texas where it was formed and began beating. Texas is strong and will rebuild. In the mean time I’m sending my love there. I recorded my “The Weather Inside” CD in Wimberley at Blue Rock Studio and it was a transformative experience. Billy and Dodee are ok and reaching out and helping their neighbors. I’ll be donating to the Red Cross Disaster Relief, which I know is a small gesture but it is something I can do. You can find info here.
