1. GRATITUDE. WOWZA. I am so incredibly grateful to all these folks for making June so wonderful: to Ara Lee, Steven Tracy, Anna Tivel, Zach Banks, Steven Skolnik, Jamie Stillway, and our lady choir Kathryn and Celeste and Katie for one of the most rewarding and fun recording experiences of my life! And to Mama Ann, and to Brad T and Brad & Karen and PJ and everyone in Sisters for always making me feel so welcome!
2. THE NEWS. The big news is that my new CD, THE LONG ROAD, finally arrived and I could not be happier with how they look and sound! Ten months ago, my friend and amazing producer Tyler Fortier and I started the journey of dreaming up this project. Tyler guided us steadily every step of the way as we collaborated with Matt Greco at The Rye Room and incredible musician artists to create something I am so very proud of. The first run of CDs were for my fabulous Kickstarter backers, and all of those packages went out into the world last week! It has been so fun to hear from folks as they listen!
For the last few months, my management team – Jeff Ross and Jeff Heiman – and I have been working on an official release strategy for this album. Our high hopes are to partner with a record label that will launch it into the world and help me gain fans I have never reached before. If the right path does not revealed itself in the next few weeks, we will endeavor to release this album ourselves, which means a publicity campaign, a radio campaign, and lots and lots of shows. All I know how to do is work hard so I’m going to keep doing that and hope that my humble little beautiful record can cut through the noise somehow. I will keep you posted on the official release. I won’t have copies to sell until we launch a plan so stay tuned! In the mean time, here’s a sneak peak of the title track featuring Milo Fultz on bass, Jeramy Burchett on drums, Bryan Daste on pedal steel, Nathan Alef on keys, and Ara Lee on vocals. SWOON!
I am SO excited to return to one of my favorite places in the world, Colorado this week for some family fishing time and some awesome collaboration! I can’t wait to share the stage with my buddies Tom Faulkner in Colorado Springs and Bob Hemenber in Creede! And then I’m super excited to do some duo shows in the midwest with David Stoddard! Check out the schedule below…

cooking up some of Mama Ann’s granola for my Kickstarter peeps!

this is what my house looked like for a couple days…

Dude. That is a long post office receipt!

Check out Steven Skolnik in the studio playing on our Stand and Sway album! He made this suitcase drum kit himself and the best part is that it has a bottle opener and a cup holder. Well played, Steven.

We were so excited to have the great Jamie Stillway play on our album, wheeeeee!!!! (notice her barefoot pedal technique…)

4. THE FUTURE…Oh this is gonna be a fun summer! In August I’m excited to return to Georgia and my favorite concert series Home By Dark, and I’m stoked to play the Red Clay Music Foundry in Duluth for the first time. Back on the home front, the wonderful folks at Harris Bridge Winery outside of Corvallis (the same folks who hosted the wonderful eclipse party last year!) are hosting their first Harris Bridge Folk Festival on the weekend of August 17-19 with tons of amazing artists, and I can’t wait for that!
Also on the horizon is Sisters Folk Festival and Americana Song Academy, and we are all looking forward to a do-over after last year’s forced cancellation. The line-up is stellar as always, and I’m stoked that my friend David Stoddard is coming out from Minnesota to play a few sets and do a duo set with me!
I’m excited to see how the release plan for my new CD unfolds. It will be great to work with a team on this one! And of course I am very excited about my duo project with Ara Lee called Stand and Sway! Our first CD will be out this fall, too. There is so much to celebrate and be grateful for!
Every day I am grateful to be able to live this life of creating art and nurturing connection and joy through music. Every day I am grateful for your generous encouragement and support! Hope to see you out there on the road soon. With much gratitude from your fan,
