|Greetings, friends and fellow music lovers!
A very happy December to you! Seems like every time December rolls around, I can hardly believe it. How did we get here so fast?
I will keep this short and sweet as I know it is an especially busy time for all!
1. Gratitude…I love reflecting all that I am grateful for during this time of giving thanks. So many generous folks helped to make November wonderful! Thank you to Artichoke Music and the great community of folks there, to Ara Lee & Karyn Ann for inspiring artistry, to Bob Hahn & Valeria and all the folks who came to The Loft, to Audry & Milton and their wonderful group of friends, to Steve Meckfessel for artistry and generosity, to Steve Key for supporting songwriters through the years, to Sculpterra Winery for the beautiful setting and delicious wine, to KC Turner and Freddy & Francine and all at Osteria, to Claudia & Bruce and all at Richmond Acoustic Concerts, and to Matt Meighan and all who joined us for our wonderful workshop on a rainy Sunday afternoon!
2. The News...Here’s a new song I wanted to share with you! It came about when I was staying in the Bay area a couple weeks ago. I guess this is what happens when you have several days by yourself on a houseboat to reflect! 🙂 Hope you dig it!
I’m sitting here writing this in my jammies on what has been named “Small Business Saturday” and reflecting on all the positive aspects and challenges involved in owning my own business. Funny how I never really set out to own a business or become an entrepreneur, but this is where my music has led me and I’m learning every step of the way! I love all the artisan/craft fairs that pop up in my town around the holidays. So I’m having my own little cyber fair offering discounts on all of my music for the whole month of December. Woop Woop! So here’s the deal: I will put all of my CDs on sale for $10 each for the month of December!! This includes ordering online from CDBaby and direct orders from me. And even more awesome, CDBaby is offering $.01 shipping on all orders from Dec 1-3!
If you would like to order a CD directly from me, please send a check for $10 per CD plus $2 shipping to: Beth Wood, PO Box 864, Eugene, OR 97440. I would be happy to include a hand-written note if it is a gift for someone. If you’d like to order directly from me by credit card, shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll make it happen.
Click Here to go directly to my CDBaby store page…thank you for giving the gift of music!
More great news…I still have a few copies left of the star-studded holiday compilation CD “A Very Blue Rock Christmas”! I was so honored to be a part of this release that Blue Rock Artists put out last year to celebrate their annual Christmas concert at Blue Rock. Featuring David Wilcox, Terri Hendrix, Billy Crockett, Bob Bennett, Nathan Brown, Tom Prasada-Rao, Sara Hickman, Pierce Pettis, Grace Pettis, Ruthie Foster, RJ Cowdery, and yours truly. They make wonderful gifts! These are $15 each and I will throw in shipping as my gift to you. You can order by check (made out to Beth Wood, PO Box 864, Eugene, OR 97440) or if you’d like to order by Paypal, you can do so here!
And finally, I’m SUPER excited about our 3rd annual Caldera Songwriters Group Concert and fundraiser for the Egan Warming Center here in Eugene on Dec 19! It is so much fun to able to celebrate music and community and friendship and holiday cookies and giving at the same time!! My song buddies and I are cooking up another night of original songs and a few sing-alongs, and once again Scott at Tsunami Books has blown me away with his generosity. Not only is Scott offering his space for free for the night, he has committed to donating 20% of sales during the event to Egan Warming Center! So cool. Helping to raise money and warm things for The Warming Center is very important to me and it warms my heart to see our community rallying for this! Hope to see all our Eugene friends there. Come for a while, come for the whole thing…just come on by! And if you can’t come, please pass along to your friends… cheers!
Here’s a fun pic with Karyn Ann and Ara Lee after our show at Artichoke Music in Portland. These bad-ass ladies brought the house down!
I loved this beautiful freaky horse sculpture at Sculpterra Winery in Paso Robles! I got to play for Steve Key’s series Songwriters at Play and it was one of those gorgeous sunny days you just can’t believe!
and here is the houseboat neighborhood where I spent the week in the Bay Area thanks to my friend Steve Meckfessel (an amazing singer-songwriter and very generous person!). It’s where my new song “California” was born..
Hey look, it’s Freddy & Francine!! These guys were SO much fun! We got to share two shows in CAand I was so blown away by their harmonies! And quite mysteriously, that’s not even their real names. Hmmm…
And finally, here’s the turkey party that was happening in our yard just days before Thanksgiving. These guys fear nothing!
3. The Future…What an amazing year it has been so far. As usual, my year will close out with a little time for reflecting, hibernating, and spending time with loved ones. As much as I love the road, it is nice to take a break now and then. May your holiday season be filled with love and may you always remember — I’m so grateful for you! Your fan,
