1. GRATITUDE. WOW. July was epic. Epic road trip, epic family time, epic fishing, and epic evenings with amazing CO and UT folks. Special thanks to all these folks for making it so incredible…Wood and Hurt and Howe and Audlin families, Bob Hemenger, Courtney & Michelle and all at Big River Music, Mary Beth Mazairz and family and good folks of Park City, and Ara Lee and Indigenous and all at the Alberta Rose Theater.

2. THE NEWS. Well I just spent an afternoon in Eugene recording another two songs with Tyler Fortier for my 20/20 project, including the twangiest song I have ever recorded. 🙂 Curious?? Well I’m releasing 20 new works this year in celebration of my 20 years in music and it’s not too late for you to get in on the fun! I just sent out a beautiful video of the song “Motherless Child” with Ara Lee and Dirje Childs from our concert at Blue Rock this spring. WOOP! Click here to read about about my 20 new works.

I am very excited to geek out on poetry again! In a couple weeks I will go down to the Texas hill country to work with Nathan Brown and Mezcalita Press on my second poetry book! I can’t believe it but I have around 75 poems to sift through and sort and try to arrange in some sensible fashion. Thank you to all who have encouraged me in my not-so-secret little secret poetry habit. 🙂

There is so much fun stuff coming up! I am especially excited about the Eclipse Celebration Concert at Harris Bridge Vineyard in Philomath near Corvallis)! There will be a concert under the oaks in the afternoon/evening and I’m thrilled to share the stage with two other Oregon artists Wilhelmina and Clara Baker. You can even come early and enjoy a potluck and a swim in the river. And if you’re really feeling adventurous, you can camp out and enjoy the eclipse with us the next morning! Well I am happy to report that I have finally cleared out my storage unit and given back the keys!! It was one of my goals for this summer. Now I can feel like I really live here, not like I’m just in a transitional phase. It feels GREAT!  Soooo way in the back corner I found some old friends… CDs that I made twenty years ago and have been hauling around ever since! I am ready to let go of these beauties. I am so proud of these works but it’s time to recycle them and move on. Don’t worry — I will save some for nostalgia’s sake, but the rest I am looking to re-home. If you would like copies of my first three CDs, I would love for you to have them. Pay whatever you like but please consider covering shipping. Same goes for these cute tiny t-shirts! They are supposed to be women’s medium size, but I don’t know many women who are that small. These work GREAT for kids! If you’d like one, make me an offer! In other news, I am so thrilled to hear that I have been invited to play a formal showcase at the Northeast Regional Folk Alliance conference in November! I have been looking forward to this conference for a while, and this just puts some very sweet icing on the cake! NERFA is a big gathering of folks in the folk world in the northeast, which is a region rich with history, venues, and festivals. I’m excited to spend some time getting to know folks there and singing my heart out! Big thank you to the selection committee for all your hard work and for the invitation!Â

Sat, July 29 – Backyard Concert – Colorado Springs, CO. The Pederson family once again hosts a backyard concert with BW the great Tom Faulkner! At 943 Tari Drive Please bring your lawn chairs or a blanket and BYOB. Optional potluck at 6 pm. $20 suggested donation per person. Come, bring a friend, relax and enjoy. Sun, Juy 30 - Lyons Fork – Lyons, CO. 450 Main Street. 303-823-5014. BW plays the on the back patio of this food-centric, beer-driven, margarita-adoring little haunt in Lyons, Colorado!! 7 pm. Free!  

Fri, Aug 4 – Home By Dark at Chukkar Farm – Alpharetta, GA. Chukkar Farm is at 1140 Liberty Grove Road. 678.665.0040. Look for the big green barn and follow signs for parking and drop-off. Home By Dark is concert experience like no other. HBD brings original music, storytelling, hope, laughter, and evidence that “A Song Can Change Your Life.” BW is thrilled to return to this favorite series! With the great Michael Logen. Guests may bring food, beverages, candles, tablecloth, goldfish crackers, smiles, applause, a good sense of humor, and extra snacks for the band! 🙂 General Admission guests must bring seating (lawn chairs). Tables are not permitted in the General Admission area, but you may bring coolers and picnic baskets. All shows are rain or shine, hot or cold, muggy or breezy. Tickets are $22 and up. Gates open at 6:30pm and concerts start at 8:00pm.

The mighty Wood/Hurt/Howe/Audlin crew at happy hour, a new tradition at the cabin. I treasure my time with these goofballs! There was much fishing and hiking and sleeping, followed by giggling and eating and more fishing…thank you Quiet Valley for another amazing week!

Then I got to go right down the road to one of our favorite cute towns Creede for a show with my buddy Bob Hemenger! Pre-show hug with Bob and new friend Alixe beside our poster at Big River Music!

my buddy Angus who patiently waited on my porch every morning in Pagosa Springs for me to come say hello. sweet gentle giant! I think my head could fit in there but thankfully he didn’t try… 

I got to play in the beautiful magical forest in Park City (and somehow managed to not fall down!)

 4. THE FUTURE…Ahhhh looking down the road it will be festival time! Sisters Folk Festival and Americana Song Academy will be here before we know it! I’m also super excited for my first time at Juniper Jam in Enterprise, OR and my second time at Lake City Wine and Music Festival in beloved Lake City, CO! Not sure how the timing will unfold for my next poetry book, but I am stoked that it is in motion. Stay tuned!
