1. CALL TO ACTION…I am seeking a show or house concert near Asheville or Greenville, SC on Sat, Oct 4. Anyone in WNC/SC have ideas?? My toes are already dancing at the thought of being in WNC in October!
2. GRATITUDE…Thanks to everyone who made July so incredibly fun! Thanks to Route 5 NW Wine Bar, Abecela Winery, and Silvan Ridge Winery – all wonderful places close to home that are supporting local music. Thanks to Dave Stoddard for the most fun tour ever, and to Beth & Rue, Tom H, Jim & Carla, Steve S and City of Rochester, Brandon & Heather, John & Marie, Betsy & Eric, the Stoddard family, Bill & Kate Isles, The Flyin’ A’s, Mike & Tracy, Karen & Mark & Evansville Arts Center, Cindy & Carol, Carle & Jeannie, and Molly & Emily & Sophie and the wonderful Fergus crew!
3. THE NEWS… My MN/WI tour with David Stoddard was a resounding success!! We had such a blast and the great news is we are already planning more tours. We’re thinking of doing some shows next August in the Midwest. I guess if we’re going to do lots of duo shows, we need a band name. Anyone?
TADA!!! Finally, my new website is up and running!! BIG thanks to Della Perry for working with me on this and for helping to make it a slimmer, more responsive, more elegant site that works well on computers, phones and tablets! On the face of it, things don’t look too different. But there are some fun changes so check it outhere when you get a chance!
August brings me back to the family vacation spot in southwestern Colorado that has fed my spirit for as long as I can remember. I am SO looking forward to quality family time, fly fishing, hiking, happy hours, and game nights by the fire. Of course, I have to support my fly fishing habit, so I’ve got a few really cool shows in CO coming up! Looking forward to a house concert in Golden, a benefit for LoveHopeStrength in Denver, and my first trip to the Four Corners Folk Festival in Pagosa Springs!
In between all the fishing and hiking, I also get to play for three really special events in GA and KY. I’m stoked to return to my favorite concert series in the world, Home By Dark hosted by James Casto at beautiful Chukkar Farm in Alpharetta for two nights with the insanely talented Mr. Casto, chart-topping singer-songwriter Billy Montana, killer sax man Matt Blanchard, and the amazing Jim Hettinger on keys. Watching James put on shows through the years has taught me how powerful it can be to present music in unique and beautiful setting. Hearing Matt’s sax ring out and echo over the hills at the polo farm at twilight is one of my favorite music memories. Looking forward to creating more! And every now and then, I get invited to sing for a wedding. It is such an honor and I am so thrilled to be a part of Maggie & Glen’s wedding in Louisville. Can’t wait!
And on a personal note, I’m so excited and grateful to say that I ran my first marathon on Sunday!! It was so fun to run in my hometown, the great running town of Eugene, and be cheered on and supported by Marty and friends along the way! Thanks to my coaches Bella & Erin, and everyone who supported and encourged me!! It was so hard but totally worth it. 🙂
