GRATITUDE…I am so grateful for the wonderful, spirit-nourishing collaborations of this past month. Thank you, Ara Lee James, David Stoddard, Edie Carey, John Standish, The Aurora Chorus, and Stephanie Bettman for lifting my spirits and feeding my soul! Special thanks to Chuck & Lynn & Mark and all at The Barn, to Carol & Ed and all at the Chicken Barn, to The Aurora Chorus, to Sarah Collins, to Bob & Jake and Kristi and all in Medford, to Lynn & Tim and friends in Waconia, to Bill & Joan for the rescue, to Tim and Harmony for Mayo, to the Audlin family, to Gary & Kim and all at Casa DeVilbiss, to all at Swallow Hill, to Karen & Scott, and to Joe Werne and all at Little Tree Acoustic Concerts!

THE NEWS…I am so excited (and a little nervous) for the Oregon Book Awards ceremony coming up! Voting is still open for the People’s Choice Award, so if you are so inclined, you can go cast your vote for my book! The deadline for voting is April 15. (Also please note, you can only vote once… but thanks for trying to stuff the ballot box, hahaha!)

And Portland peeps, save the date! May 22 will be our Stand and Sway album release celebration with special guest the great Scott Cook!! If you have seen Scott play at Sisters Folk Festival or elsewhere, you know he is an incredibly insightful, inspiring wordsmith with a quick wit and a knack for making people feel at ease and –  before they know it – sing along with him. Also, that is my birthday and all I want is to celebrate with you. I don’t know if there is such a thing as IPA cake, but I’ll bet we can find out. WHEEEEEEE!!!

I am also very excited for these songwriting/creativity workshops coming up! There is still time to sign up for these, so check them out!

First will be the 2nd annual Songsmith Gathering Song School in beautiful Brevard, NC May 16-17! The great Sarah Siskind and I started the song school last year, and it was magical. If you are in the southeast and you want to explore your creative side, I hope you’ll join us! Ara Lee James will also be there lending her voice and wisdom and experience to the camp. And right after song camp is the amazing festival the Songsmith Gathering. This year’s line-up is ridiculous…David Crosby, Mipso, The Suitcase Junket, Sarah Siskind, and more!

In June, Ara and I will be leading the two-day Women, Nature and Song workshop Stillpoint Farm in Veneta (outside of Eugene)! This land is sacred and peaceful and we will be sharing in the magic of supporting and learning from each other. Kathy and Gina have held many festivals and events on their beautiful land, and this will be a continuation of their work in their world to raise and strengthen women’s voices while celebrating nature, community, and creativity.

At the end of June/beginning of July, I am delighted to be leading a week-long retreat in Guanatuato, Mexico! It is called Songwriters Crossing Borders and could not be more excited to be a part of this sure to be magical experience! Also on staff will be the inspiring Chris Kokesh, Lupita Ye, Noah M and Suzan Lundy. We will explore creativity and songwriting, share and learn from each other, experience the beautiful scenery and learn about the music, ryhthms, food and culture of Mexico and more! Check out these beautiful videos about this enchanted, inspiring place!

This was so cool to see the song I wrote with Kim Richey on the Starbucks Country Spotify playlist!

gonna be lots more of this in my near future… I’m so excited for all the poetry reading events coming up!

and oh my GEERRSSH I had so much fun playing and singing and cutting up with Edie Carey and John Standish (not pictured)!

and then the great Stephanie Bettman sat in with us at Little Tree Acoustic Concerts!!

and then there was this traffic jam leaving the Casa  DeVilbiss house concert!

and then my friend Maggie talked me into running a half marathon in Golden and Joe ran with us and it was (mostly) so much fun!! a little hilly… but still fun. 🙂 Go Team Mags/BW!

and then also isn’t she the cutest dog that ever lived? I love her so much I can’t even. We got a new frisbee and the world suddently opened into a field of green grass with fragrant spring flowers blossoming all around us! 🙂

As always, I am so grateful for you and your support of my creative life. Look for the new album DEEP BLUE by Stand and Sway soon! I hope to see you out there on the road soon so I can thank you and sing for you in person. Thank you for showing up and for telling your friends and for believing, just as I do, that art matters. With much gratitude from your fan,
