Hello, friends:
One of the best things about having a website is that I get to share with you some things that I am excited about. Below I have listed a few... my favorite guitar maker, some musicians who have become good friends through the years whose music I think you might dig, some places I love to play, some musicians and writers who have influenced me, and some things that are just plain cool.

Chris Jenkins - Chris is a luthier (guitar maker) and veterinarian living in Mansfield, TX. He came to see me play at the Gypsy Tea Room in Dallas at the urging of his son, Joe, who had booked me to play a show at Stephen F. Austin University a few years ago. He told me about his work and invited me to come to his workshop -- he had a guitar he wanted me to see. When I got there, I was immediately blown away by his craftsmanship -- this was one very special guitar!! I have named her "White Lightening" and she is the most uniquely beautiful guitar I have ever played. To the left are some photos of us together... I am so honored to be playing this instrument, and I am very excited about this new friendship.

My other guitars are Larry, Jr., a beautiful Larrivee and Vivian, a jumbo blonde Alvarez.

Chris Rosser - Asheville singer-songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire. He produced Ghostwriter, You Take the Wheel, and Marigolds. I call him "Obi Wan!"

David Lamotte - Asheville singer-songwriter and peace activist. David has touched so many lives with his music and his giving spirit.

Jupiter Coyote - My favorite Southern rock-n-roll jam-band. These guys have been my big brothers for many years. They have been kind enough to adopt me as their unofficial back-up singer (a role I relish!), and we have played many shows together all over the country. The CD called "Wooden Coyote" is our side project together.

Chris Whitley (1960-2005).  Mind-blowing, dark, haunting music.   Chris’s music has had profound influence on me and many other musicians around the world.

Spirit Reins -- Spirit Reins is a non-profit organization powered by a passion for children and horses. Their mission is to provide hope and healing to at-risk youth and families in crisis by combining the healing power of horses with the beauty of the Texas Hill Country.  Rhonda and company do really good work – thanks, Spirit Reins!

Bend Studio -- Owner Ally David has created a unique space for Dallas music fans to enjoy live music in a listening environment.  The Intimate Evening Concert Series is held at Bend Studio -- yoga studio by day, music venue by night.

Oskar Blues Brewery -- Oskar Blues is a Brewery and live music venue in Lyons, CO. Hands-down my favorite beer. Our friends at OB are good folks spreading the joy through beer and music.

Blue Rock Artist Ranch and Studio -- Blue Rock is a phenomenal studio/concert venue/artists' retreat in the Texas Hill Country. Billy and Dodee Crockett are the visionaries (and friends) behind it.

Nathan Brown and Jim Chastain -- Nathan Brown and Jim Chastain are two of Beth's favorite poets, and they're damn fine people, too. Together these three have been putting on music & poetry events in Texas and Oklahoma. If you are interested in hosting one, please contact Ashley at astanberry@ehshouston.org.

WNCW - 88.7 - Public Radio for Western North Carolina. My favorite radio station.

Southeast Arizona Bird Observatory -- The Southeastern Arizona Bird Observatory (SABO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of the birds of southeastern Arizona, their habitats and the diversity of species that share those habitats through research, monitoring and public education. SABO is run by my uncle, Tom Wood, and my aunt, Sheri Williamson. We did a really fun benefit concert together in 2002 at the Bisbee Repertory Theatre. Tom is my fun uncle who wrote the song, "Homer" and even though he doesn't know it, he was one of my musical influences.

Texas Music Office - serves as the music information clearinghouse and promotion office for the Texas music industry. I was an intern here many, many years ago (Hi, Casey!).

The Sun Magazine - this is a wonderfully literary magazine published out of Chapel Hill, NC featuring essays, interviews, fiction, poetry, and photography. I read each one voraciously and can't wait for the next one to appear in my mailbox.
